Update on Buddy: Buddy passed on to Rainbow Bridge in March 2001 very quickly from a hemangiasarcoma of the heart. He was such a dear, sweet soul and we hope he is enjoying tennis bones and marrow bones at the Bridge. We love you, Buddy.

Hi, my name is Buddy and I came to live with the Kanine Kids from Illinois in the summer of 1998. I am now 13 1/2 years old. My former owners had taken me to the vet to have me put to sleep because they had purchased new carpet and they said I had an "accident" on it. Who are they kidding? That was no "accident"!!! You try not going to the bathroom for twelve hours when you're my age!!!To my vet's credit, he refused to do "it" because he said I was very healthy for my age. My owners gave my vet a piece of paper saying that I was no longer theirs anymore (gee, for one little mistake?!!)and my vet contacted Golden Opportunities Rescue in Illinois. I was placed in foster care with a really nice couple, Mary and Brian Thiele,r until a new permanent home was found for me!!

I am a very sweet dog, I have epilepsy. Golden Opportunities placed a message on the Golden@Hobbes list to try to find me a home. (Nobody seems to want us "old guys" especially if we have any "problems" Most people were afraid to adopt me because they were afraid of my epilepsy). My new mom in Arizona already had one adopted boy with epilepsy, so she said "What's another one?" And off I went to Arizona!!! A Canine Underground Railroad (CUR) run was established and I began my trip by car through Illinois, Missouri, Oklahoma, Texas, and New Mexico until I finally reached my new home in Arizona.  Yippee!!

Buddy with his Tennis Ball

I am quite the happy boy now!!! My favorite thing is to play with my beef bone. In the morning I love to toss it up in the air and chase it around the floor before I finally "capture" it and lay down to munch on it. I am a sweet, old man who never does anything wrong. My only bad habit is that I have become so spoiled that I must sleep by my dad's side of the bed every night or life just isn't complete!!!
