**  The lovely "Lucy Goosy" departed this earth on her journey to Rainbow Bridge on August 14, 2002.  Her demise was short as she was diagnosed with bone cancer (osteosarcoma) and passed away ten days later.  We miss her terribly but know that she is now in "a far better place".  God Speed, Lady Goosy....

Hello, my name is Lucy (otherwise known as "Lady Lucy" to acquaintances and "Lucy Goosy" to my family!!) I am a eleven year old Golden Retriever and I now live in Arizona with my new family. They adopted me from Heartland Golden Retriever Rescue in Tennessee. I had been boarded in a kennel for two months because Heartland didn't have any available foster homes when I came into their rescue program. They got me from the Humane Society after my previous owners gave me up because I didn't "fit in" with the family anymore!!

Boy, did I get the best end of the deal!!! I now have two sister dogs and fivebrother dogs in my new family. Four of them are Golden Retrievers like me and two are Jack Russell Terriers. JRTs are ok except for the smallest one, Maggie. She thought that I was a push-over like the other "big yellow fuzzbutts" in the house, but I showed her a thing or two. The first day she got up in my face yapping about nothing, I taught her the meaning of the words "Respect your Elders!!" Tee-hee - she was surprised!!!

I may be eleven years old but my new mom says I have the energy of a two year old (and the manners of an eight year old). I love tennis balls. I can even get three of them in my mouth at once. Mom calls me a "ball-holic" (whatever that means!!!). I love to just sit with one in my mouth or carry other toys around the house for mom. We also have a swimming pool at my new house and Mom said she will teach me how to retrieve balls in the water and give me swimming lessons next summer. (Mom's kind of a wimp - says it's too cold for her to get in the water now!!) Here I am by the pool just waiting for next summer!!

Well guess I better sign off now....I think I hear the cookie bowl rattling!!!
