Maddie - The Sweetest "Goldie Oldie"

This was Maddie's page. Maddie passed away in April 1997 due to cancer. We have left this page as a tribute to her. She was a truly wonderful dog.

Hi, my name is Maddie and I am 10 years old. I was a rescue dog that came to live with my human Mom and Dad through the help of the Dallas/Ft.Worth Golden Retriever Rescue Group. If you would like to read more about how that came to be, please click on the RESCUE OF MADDIE button below.

I am one of the sweetest, older girls you will ever find. I love to snuggle with my Mom and let her scratch my ears. Sometime she stops too soon and I have to put my paw on her hand and remind her to keep scratching. I usually hold a tennis ball in my mouth while we are snuggling. Mom thinks this is really cute and it almost always earns me a treat.

Mom and I recently flew back to DFW to participate in the annual Golden Retrevier Rescue fundraiser for the DFW group. It takes a lot of money to feed the rescue dogs, house them and take care of their medical needs. All the kind people who had helped make me healthy when I came into rescue were so happy to see me. They couldn't believe how beautiful I was. Everyone was petting me and saying nice things about me. Mom and I stayed at a nice hotel and I got to sleep in the king size bed with her and have left-over prime rib for dinner. We had a GREAT GIRLS WEEKEND!!

Here's a picture of me with my brothers. I'm the second dog from the left - the beautiful one!!

And now, one of me alone at Christmastime this year ---

I guess you could say that I am a pretty lucky girl. I now live with a great family who has a big backyard, a swimming pool, and a jacuzzi. Better yet, they have an unlimited supply of tennis balls. Mom kisses my nose about 50 times a day. Life is good!!
