Max's Home Page

Hello, my name is Max!  I am a 10 year old Golden Retriever that became part of the Kanine Kids in June 2005.  Mom and Dad's vet told them about an old boy over at the Animal Shelter on "Death Row".  My official stay at Animal Control was suppose to be up on Saturday.  I heard that could mean "bad things" for an old guy like me.  Well, Mom and Dad showed up as soon as Animal Control opened on Saturday morning and said they would adopt me.    Boy, was I glad to see them!!  I jumped into their van and they took me for a ride over to a place known as a Veterinary Center.  I'm not sure I had ever been to one of those places in my life.  My skin was in pretty bad shape (open sores and hair loss on my bad and tummy).  I also had really gross ears.  Well, this nice lady vet looked me over from one end to the other and announced that I should probably be fine with "some good medicine, love, and good food".   And you know what, she was right!!  Six months later, I look and feel like a new man!!

I have a nice big round bed to sleep on at my new house.  I have kind of claimed it for myself.  Since I'm an older guy, I need to spend some time during the day napping and it is a favorite thing to do (when I can't be outside eating horse poop or cantaloupes!).  Here is a picture of me doing what I do best!

I also look pretty good in this picture too.....

But just so you won't think I sleep all the time, here I am getting some exercise and clowning around!!

So as you can see, God smiled on me and I am loving life!!!  Now, where are those cantalopes????

Update on Max, Christmas 2006:  Max has lived with the Kanine Kids 1.5 years now and he is such a joy!!  His favorite activites are eating apples and taking naps - the boy is truly a vegetarian at heart!  Here are some updated pictures:

and still napping!!

Update:  August 2008:  Max left this earth for heaven on July 11, 2008.  He was diagnosed with a huge, inoperable osteochondrosarcoma in his left leg.  (Cancerous tumor of the cartilage and bone).  He was an absolutely wonderful dog and spent his last year being the "Grandpa" to our new puppy. Max taught the puppy many wise lessons before leaving this earth.  Below is a short video of "Grandpa" and Bogey playing together.
