Hello, my name is Sugar. I am a 10 year old Golden Retriever that has been through the Golden Retriever Rescue program twice - the first time I was picked up as a stray; the second time I was given up because the people said I couldn't be housebroken. I spent 2 1/2 months in the Golden Rescue kennel before my new Mom and Dad came to visit. As soon as they saw me, it was love at first sight.
Mom and Dad thought I had the sweetest face. Well, the new morning they flew me home on a great big airplane. That part was kind of scary but it was well worth it. I now live in a very big house with five other Goldens and a huge backyard. And you know what, those people who owned me before were wrong. I am housebroken. They just didn't want me because they thought I was too old. Mom lets me snuggle up next to her on the couch at night and I don't like letting her out of my sight. I still worry that she might take me back to the kennel even though she says "hell will freeze over before that happens". She has put my picture on this page so you can see how sweet I am.
Update: Sugar died in July 1998 of a hemangiasarcoma of the heart. We had him just over a year and he was always loyal to us and we loved him dearly. He died in my arms with me whispering in his ear, "Sugar, we love you."
