My Home Page: Tia - The Princess

My Background

Update:  Sweet Tia departed this earth on December 6, 2002 at 1:30 PM for the Rainbow Bridge.   Her demise was a combination of liver failure and irritable bowel disease.  Godspeed, my sweet girl.  We had so many good times together.  I love you......

My name is Tia and I am a Princess - at least that's what my new Mom calls me. I was left at the Humane Society with my brother. He got adopted right away, but then I heard some people say that I wouldn't get adopted because I was too old and they would have to put me to sleep. Some nice people from Golden Retriever Rescue found out about me and rescued me before it was too late. Not too long after I got out of the kennel, I became sick and I came to live at Mom's house while I recuperated. It was during that time that Mom found out just what a special girl I was. Somewhere in my previous life, I had a lot of obedience training and I could sit, shake, down, do a drop-on-recall, and besides all that, I was just very, very sweet. All the other Goldens in the house were boys (five of them at the time plus two Jack Russells). Mom's only girl dog (Maddie) had died in April. Well, Mom felt that she and I just had to be together, so she turned her big, sad eyes on Dad and asked him if I could stay. Dad is a pretty cool guy so he said "yes" since I had better manners than most of the boys who lived in the house.

I am a very special girl. I am now 12 years old and have been living with Mom and Dad for almost 5 years now. Mom lets me sleep on the bed with her when Dad is out of town. I am a very quiet sleeper. Since I am so well-behaved, Mom also lets me go to the stable where she keeps her horse and we do "barn-dog" things together. You can usually find some pretty cool things to eat at the stable too - especially those "after-dinner horse breath mints". Well, I better run now - I think I heard Mom say it's time for a "barn-run".
